Coming from Dallas, I’m a little bit spoiled when it comes to biryani – it’s practically everywhere and plus there’s so many options for good home cooked biryani too. So I knew it was going to be a challenge to find the best biryani spot in LA, but one I am on a quest to find.
Started my search with BKH. We ordered the Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Garlic Naan and Plain Naans.
Lamb Biryani ($13.95) – Alright, this is not authentic biryani, that being said it was alright, but more of a flavourful masala rice – but slightly better, the lamb was tasty. I’d only get it if I don’t find an authentic Hyderabadi biryani spot asap.
Chicken Tikka Masala ($12.95) – The Chicken Tikka was really good, so flavourful and spicy. Probably a little extra spicy, but I did request that and I don’t care, it was super yum.
Saag Paneer ($12.95) – Saag Paneer was good and spicy. It’s not the typical fully blended spinach, more chopped up version.
Garlic Naan ($3.50 ea) & Plain Naan ($3 ea) – Naans were good.
Quantity 5/5 – Large portions – especially the biryani.
Delivery 4/5 – Curry was leaking a bit, but nothing too bad – good delivery.
Spice 4/5 – Extra spicy, maybe could have gone with one level down. I asked for Desi spicy so that’s on me. I liked it though, although my husband was a bit annoyed with the level of spice but that’s what happens if you leave the ordering to me.
Taste 4/5 – Curries were very tasty, flavourful and felt home-style.
Overall, this is definitely a curry joint. Not a biryani spot, so I would definitely be back to try their other curries. The standout was the Chicken Tikka Masala and that’s going to be my go to here for sure. My quest for the best biryani in LA shall continue.
