I was invited to a media event to sample their menu and check out their new location in Downtown. Previously located in Buford, they’ve now closed that restaurant and opened up here, changed up the decor and reinvented the place. On the menu was the Chip Basket – freshly cooked Potato Chips, they were quite nice, off course I love chips so I’m partial to that. Avocado and Chicken flatbread, this was quite tasty and a bit different, liked the touch of garlic aioli. We received a complimentary Strong Island Tea, that was pretty good too. But let’s get to the wings, that’s basically what they’re known for. So we got Honey BBQ in each of their 8 heat indexes. I’ve never seen so many heat options – it’s usually 1-5 max. So the first few were really mild, obviously, it goes from Virgin, Mild, Medium, Hot, X-Hot, Volcanic, Magma and Insanity. So once it started getting to X-Hot, people were less keen to try anything after that. I love spicy food, but I’d say the Volcanic and Magma are good enough for me, it was flavourful but not an overkill of heat that you can’t enjoy the food. Insanity while good, was a bit too spicy for you to really enjoy it. I do appreciate that they had so many levels though as it gives everyone a chance to find a heat intensity that works for them. Also, the menu has so many flavours, from Asian, Bayou, European, Tex-Mex, Classic American, Southern BBQ, Fusion and The Islands – so there’s bound to be something for everyone. The manager Rhonda was very attentive to everyone there, along with the other servers, they were all really friendly. They mentioned that the wings are larger compared to other places, I haven’t really tried that many others here in ATL so can’t comment on that for now. Finally the dessert, they hyped up the Cookie Skillet and it was everything they said it would be and more. It reminds me of the Cookie Time I used to eat at school in NZ, oh so good. And this had added vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was amazing!! Overall was a great night and got to sample a good selection of items. Thanks to Rhonda and her team for having us!!
